The Fabric of My Life

For the love of fashion, written words, music, love and pretty much everything to do with everything. The fabric of my life.

"So we'll just let things take their course and never be sorry." -Fitgerald

Why is finding the appropriate dress for any event always so stressful?
I was shooting for a cross between Cinderella and Princess Jazmin-which translates to Beauty Pageant Queen meets Victoria’s Secret Angel. Side note: it totally bugs me when people barge in the dressing room without knocking. Sure, maybe I should have locked the door, but there should be rules about proper dressing room etiquette posted somewhere…like inside someone’s brain. Whatever. But then I realized I was going to a gala where there would be a room full of conservatives, professionals and maybe even a handful of nuns. After 2 hours 50 dresses, and a few compromises, I made my choice. There is a dressing room moment that happens to every woman where she is coerced into making the dreaded decision, between the dress that she absolutely LOVES and the dress that is appropriate for her. Sounds dramatic but one must never underestimate the power of “the right dress”. Nevertheless, I opted for less skin and a longer hem line.  So although I was IN LOVE… 😍 with dress number two, dress number one was definitely more appropriate. Lesson? Even a dress has its proper time and place.
